In the past few years, FHL Clinics was honoured to host the Empowered to Connect Conference Simulcast, presented by Show Hope, and bring Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) methods to our clients and friends. TBRI®, developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, is a holistic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. The Empowered to Connect Conference brought forth practical teachings designed to encourage, educate, and equip families, caregivers, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. 
 

Today, more than 100,000 individuals have been impacted by more than 20 Empowered to Connect Conference events and simulcasts, reaching all 50 states of America and multiple countries around the globe. 
 

In May 2020, building on this legacy, the Hope for the Journey Conference was introduced. Though the Empower to Connect Conference has historically been a two-day event, the Hope for the Journey Conference moves to a one-day format to ensure the information is consumable and accessible by busy parents and caregivers meeting the everyday needs of children.  
 

We, at FHL Clinics, have found that the content of the conference is not just ideal for adoptive and foster parents. The skills we learn can be extremely helpful for understanding children who are sensitive, highly anxious, behaviourally challenging, and those who struggle with developmental challenges. Therefore, this year we continue to participate as one of the simulcast sites to host this newly designed Hope for the Journey Conference.
